Design, Inspection and Testing of Radiation Shielding

We have excellent relations with our architects, managers, building contractors, health and safety officers and government and regulatory bodies. We  carefully and thoroughly assess the intended usage of the room/building/hospital, formulate comprehensive specifications re. radiation shielding. We look at all options to arrive at the best and most cost effective solution.  Our specs include security, signage, lock types etc. We liaise with the necessary government/regulatory bodies to get licenses and necessary approvals. We design and supply signage and custom items such as special lead boxes to shield wall penetrations.

To finish what we’ve started, we offer an inspection service of the facility when all shielding specifications are installed. We have been inspecting lead walls at hospitals and clinics and other sites for more than 10 years. After insuring that all specs have been met, the final step is testing. This involves placing an appropriate radioactive source inside the room and using instrumentation outside to ensure that no areas of inadequate radiation protection exist. We do video recording and provide written reports.

Besides industrial radiography we cover a range of  industries and new x-ray rooms, nuclear medicine, CT and PET facilities. We are also called to inspect existing hospitals and industrial x-ray rooms to ensure that the integrity of the shielding meets modern standards and has not been compromised.

Further services include  regulatory and licensing assistance, training,  leak testing, radioactive material disposal, emergency callouts to determine what the radionuclide is and how best to deal with it, arrange estoppels etc. In fact, for anything radioactive or radiation related, call us first.
